greater desire to participate. It seems evident that formal education should be
strongly associated with political participation for women and for men as a
result of its’ relevant to socio-political development of any nation. It is in
this view that this study premise.

employed descriptive survey research methodology. The researcher applied
fishbowl sampling technique in selecting 200 participants in Ibadan metropolis.
Questionnaire titled the impacts
of formal education on voting behavior in Ibadan metropolis (IFEVBIM) was
used to collect data from the participants.
The hypotheses
were tested using multiple (PPM)
Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Regression Analysis. Data
analysis showed significant Correlation between formal education and voting behavior in Ibadan
metropolis.
The study
recommended that media
should uphold the dictates of objectivity and equal participation by giving all
parties opportunity to defend or sell there programmes. The media should
be given encouragement to report their news as it relates to election in the
country in a free and fair manner. INEC should be given every necessary support
in terms of enabling laws and proper voters’ education to enable it conduct

THE RELATIONSHIP
BETWEEN SCHOOL AND CLASS SIZE ON STUDENT ENROLMENT IN SELECTED SECONDARY
SCHOOLS IN IBADAN SOUTH-EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT, OYO STATE
Abstract
This study examines
the relationship between school demographic size and student enrolment in
secondary schools in Ibadan Metropolis, Oyo State. As school
population increases class sizes also increase, the performances of students
become an issue. According to Dror (1995), class size has become a phenomenon
often mentioned in the educational literature as an influence on pupil’s
feelings and enrollment, on administration, quality and school budgets. In his
words he noted, that class size is almost an administrative decision over which
teachers have little or no control. Most researchers start from the assumption
that size of the class would prove a significant determinant of the degree of
success of students. Class-size is an educational tool that can be used to
describe the average number of students per class in a school.
The study employed
descriptive survey research methodology. The researcher applied fishbowl
sampling technique in selecting 150 participants across the schools in the
Local Government comprising both male and female. Questionnaire titled the
relationship between school demographic size and student enrolment in secondary
schools in Ibadan Metropolis, Oyo State (RSDSSESS) was used to
collect data from the participants.
The hypotheses were tested using multiple (PPM) the data were analyzed
using frequency counts percentage, mean, standard deviation analysis.
Based on the
outcome of the study, the
study recommends adequate provision of
teaching aids both visuals and audios to aid classroom management and learning.

SELECTED SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN IBADAN SOUTH EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA,
OYO STATE
Abstract
This study
examined Mother
Tongue Influence on the Pronunciation of English Words among Selected Secondary
School Students in Ibadan South East Local Government Area, Oyo State. Learners of
English Language as a second language are mostly faced with the problem of oral
proficiency in terms of appropriate pronunciation of English sounds (phonemes)
either by virtue of being a new language or Mother Tongue or first language
interference. It is obvious that common mistakes identified among the learners
of English as a second language today include improper pronunciation,
mispronunciation, poor intonation, as well as misrepresentation of phonetic
sounds. For instance, most students misplace the qualities and length of vowels.
In some cases, students unconsciously relied on Mother Tongue models when
deprived of consistently reliable guidance from teachers
The study
employed descriptive survey research methodology. The researcher applied
fishbowl sampling technique in selecting 150 participants across the schools in
the Local Government comprising both male and female. Questionnaire titled Mother Tongue Influence on
the Pronunciation of English Words on Secondary School Students (MTIPEWSSS) was
used to collect data from the participants.
The hypotheses
were tested using multiple (PPM)
Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Regression Analysis. Data
analysis showed significant Correlation between Mother Tongue Influence and
Pronunciation of English Words.
Based on the
outcome of the study, there is the need for teachers to provide a model in all aspects relating to English Language
particularly Oral English. Emphasis on oracy skills should begin from
the cradle (primary school) through all levels. This will make fluency in
language use inherent among learners. The government, private organisation or
individuals should assist in providing necessary facilities as teaching aids such
as television sets, radios, tape recorder, flash cards and other related
facilities that will help in facilitating easier understanding of the course.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN STUDY HABIT VARIABLES AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN IBADAN NORTH EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF OYO STATE
Abstract
This study examined the
relationship between study habit variables and academic performance of
secondary school students in Ibadan North East Local Government.
There are many determinants of academic performance. According to this
analysis; students with higher marks had more effective study habits compared
to students who had ineffective study habits and thus lagged behind in studies.
Academically poor achievers have less effective study habits compared to
academically high achievers. Pupils who got more scholarships had better study
habits than the pupils who did not get scholarships. For academic achievement,
being smart is more important than being intelligent and hardworking and
involves being practical, having common sense and using better organization and
application of good study habits.
The study
employed descriptive survey research methodology. The researcher applied
fishbowl sampling technique in selecting 100 participants from the respondents.

THE PROBLEMS OF NATION BUILDING IN NIGERIA
Abstract
This study examines the
problems of nation building in Nigeria. The historical legacies of colonial
rule create some challenges for nation-building in Nigeria. While large British
colonies like India and the Sudan had a single administrative system, Nigeria
had two, one for the North and one for the South. It was almost as if these were two separate
countries, held together only by a shared currency and transportation
system. Many members of the Nigerian
elite class in the 1950s and 1960s had their education and world outlook molded
by the regional institutions. Some had
little or no understanding of their neighbouring regions. Under these conditions, it was easy for
prejudice and fear to thrive. Based on
the weak foundation in which the Nigerian project was laid, this study seeks to
examine the problems bedeviling the Nigerian nation building project since
1960.
The Historical
methodology, employed by the researcher, involves the use of a conventional and
exploratory analysis of literature which includes the use of primary and
secondary document. The primary source that is employed in this work includes:
archival documents. Secondary source consulted includes: Journal, articles, and
books on the subject of discourse.
The study found
that the various crises that erupt the political landmass of the country are
the product of the merging of radical and social diverse groups who have
witnessed advancement in territorial conquest, political structure and an
operational market economy.
Based on the
outcome of the research, the study suggests the diversification of Nigeria
economy to address the problems of poverty and unemployment, which are strong
backbones for ethno-religious crises. Again that, attention be given to the
call decentralization of power as politician has prioritized that institutions
as a must attain position thereby igniting more ethnic tension during election
period.

INFLUENCE OF PARENTAL FACTORS ON SSS 2 STUDENTS JUVENILITY
BEHAVIOUR IN IBADAN SOUTH-EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF OYO STATE
Abstract
This study investigated
the
Influence of Parental Background Status on SSS 2 Students Juvenility Behaviour
in Ibadan South-East Local Government of Oyo State.
Juvenile delinquency is a world-wide problem. Its occurrence in every country,
state and city is phenomenal; and in spite of frequent news-media accounts of
juvenile crime and efforts to curb it, it continues to increase. The family
remains one of the most important social dimensions of understanding juvenile
delinquency. As a primary socialization agency, the family must offer emotional
support and material benefits to its member. To achieve this function its
homoeostatic mechanisms within its structure must function well. This means
that the family as a social unit, reflected by economic, religious structural
and control aspects must enable its members to adjust to general challenges of
life.
The study employed
descriptive survey research methodology. The researcher applied fishbowl
sampling technique in selecting 300 participants across the schools in the
Local Government comprising both male and female. Questionnaire titled the

in Ibadan South-East Local Government of Oyo State
(IPBSSSS2SJB) was used to collect data from the participants
The hypotheses were
tested using multiple (PPM) the
data were analyzed using frequency counts percentage, mean, standard deviation
analysis.
Based on the outcome of
the study, the study recommended that counseling psychologist should be
deployed to secondary schools for early identification of personal social issue
among students. This will go a long way in reducing cases of delinquency in
students. Parents with delinquent behaved children should be charged or
cautioned, so they will help to check the activities of their children and
wards. This will promote parent-child relationship with the consequent
reduction in delinquent behavior of children.

Based on the outcome
of the study, that teachers
of electronics should be resourceful enough to procure instructional materials
and that are lacking in the schools. Teachers should check the instructional
materials often to ensure that it is still working and in good running
condition. Resources centers should be established at strategic locations
within an educational area and be well equipped with instructional materials
from where teachers could loan from.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LANGUAGE LABORATORY AND
TEACHING AND LEARNING OF ORAL ENGLISH IN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN IBADAN
MUNICIPALITY
Abstract
This study investigated
the Relationship between Language Laboratory
and Teaching and Learning of Oral English in Senior Secondary Schools in Ibadan
Municipality. The spread of English Language throughout the
world has conditioned non-native users of English Language to rely on it as a
means of communication internationally as well as nationally, for English is
used not only for academic purposes, but also for purposes of social
interaction. Although learners in Nigeria learn English Language as a second
language after the acquisition of their various mother tongues, these learners
who are vast in their mother tongues before coming to the school system are
compelled to learn English because of the roles it would play in their lives.
Hence, most of these learners find it more convenient to use their mother
tongue more often than the English language even in the school environment. The
resultant effect of this is that some Nigerian students seem to be deficient in
oral communication.
The study
employed descriptive survey research methodology. The researcher applied
fishbowl sampling technique in selecting 250 participants across the schools in
the Local Government comprising both male and female. Questionnaire titled the Relationship between Language Laboratory and Teaching and Learning
of Oral English in Senior Secondary Schools in Ibadan Municipality (ILLETLOE) was
used to collect data from the participants.
The hypotheses
were tested using multiple (PPM)
Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Regression Analysis. Data
analysis showed significant Correlation between Language Laboratory and
Teaching and Learning of Oral English in senior secondary schools in Ibadan
